A masterful exploration of all the ways we can know and be known. One of my favorites of 2021!

After the death of her father, the main character seeks a home.  Her family has lived all over the world and she is multi-lingual, so she settles on working in the Hague as an interpreter at the International Criminal Court.  She struggles with personal relationships, and observes others struggling as well.  The intimacies she develops interpreting, in casual exchanges, and in her personal relationships explore different power dynamics.
